Environmental and radiation protection

(safe encasement of nuclear and non-nuclear hazardous waste sites, radiation attenuation applications)

A NC State University study in 2011 has done confirmatory testing on Cecrete’s ability to attenuate Gamma radiation, the full study is available upon request, but here are a coulpe of conclusions:

  • Some Dual Purpose Storage Casks use a 26.75 inch concrete wall for enclosure and gamma attenuation1
  • This results in a 99.995% gamma radiation reduction

CGS Technology was originally used by the D.O.E to encase nuclear tanks, so these results from the NC University were done merely for educational purposes.

** The full study by:

Dan Moneghan, Jacob Eapen, and Mohamed Bourham, Department of Nuclear Engineering, NC State University, available upon request for CGS clients.

Green Energy with Green Cement

Cercrete™ is the ideal solution for wind turbine foundations, solar farm installations, and data center infrastructure. Its proven ability to resist both high and low temperature extremes—without cracking, expanding, or shrinking—ensures the long-term protection and stability of valuable assets. Cercrete™ can be produced on-site using available materials, enabling efficient construction in remote locations where minimizing transport is critical for cost and logistics. With unmatched strength, durability, and reliability, Cercrete™ delivers a far superior, longer-lasting technology for protecting energy and technology investments, making it the logical choice in any scenario.

Capping oil & gas wells

The failure of traditional cement in oil and gas wells is a significant and well-documented issue. The rates of compromised cement and casing (loss of well integrity) vary by well type and region.

Traditional cement failure is a major source of methane leakage, water/soil contamination, and air pollution in North America:

  • Annual Economic & Health Damage: ~$10 billion
  • Annual Commercial Methane Loss: ~$1 billion

Additional Insights

  • Over 3.5 million abandoned oil and gas wells exist in the U.S. alone, with hundreds of thousands more in Canada.
  • Methane leaks are a potent driver of climate change and frequently accompanied by toxic chemicals such as benzene, which threaten public and ecosystem health.
  • These impacts are felt across oil-producing regions in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, underscoring the continent-wide nature of the problem. And of course, this is not just a regional issue but a global one.

Real Estate Energy/Environmental savings:

CGS Cement™ delivers significant energy efficiency benefits to residential and commercial real estate by providing exceptional insulation when used in building construction or as a coating. Its unique formulation not only enhances thermal performance—reducing heating and cooling costs—but also imparts extra advantages such as superior weather and fire resistance, fortifying properties against environmental challenges while improving occupant comfort and safety. GCS cement can be used on walls, floors and roofs.
